Artist Statement
I’m fascinated by the point of connection with a thrown shadow. It feels like proof of existence for an object in this world to have its impact on the surroundings be revealed by the shifting light. These paintings are results of a conscious effort to make note of what is striking in the constant mundane. I found through this that I was most often drawn to the sun. Through reflections of light, shadows that multiply the height of a tree, or the simple blinding light of it peeking through branches, the sun is the director of every state we notice the nature around us to be in.
