SOL:

Journeys in the Edges of Light

I believe in the magic, mystery, and weight that our lives imbue in the objects and spaces we encounter and move through every day. I’m inspired by art, history, travel, exploring cities and their cultures, sailing and the outdoors. My work deals with the joy, humor, soulfulness, pain, grief, connection, and redemption that being present with these things arouses.

About the Artist

Esteban Gonzalez is a San Antonio raised artist and photographer, returning there after spending the majority of his adult life on the East Coast and in Chicago. He started his formal art education in his early 30s at the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts, focusing on drawing and printmaking. Inspired by art, history, travel, exploring cities and their cultures, sailing and the outdoors, he's expanded his practice to include photography, sculpture, and performance.

Esteban’s photographs grace the poems of Carmen Calatayud in this issue of Yanaguana.
